On-Call Event Support Associate (Bilingual):  This role will aid Girl Scouts of Colorado staff with facilitating member events with Spanish speaking girls and their families by guiding, supervising, and counseling Spanish-speaking K-12 aged Girl Scouts in program activities at various locations across the state, generally at Girl Scout properties in the Front Range.

  • Work schedule may vary, but will likely include weekend programs, weekday evenings, or weekday afternoons. Anticipate one to two events per month depending on time of year.
  • This position is very flexible depending on staff availability.  Staff self-select programs they are available for on a quarterly basis and schedules are determined at least four weeks before each event.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Aid in facilitating Girls Scouts of Colorado Member Events for Spanish-speaking Girl Scouts and their Families.
  1. Help to facilitate high-quality programming in Spanish for Girl Scouts ages 5 through 17, incorporating the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, national Girl Scout curriculum, and meeting different department objectives.
  1. Help girls and their families whose primary language is Spanish participate in Girl Scout events.
  1. Aid in implementing programming that is exciting, progressive, skill based and inclusive of Girl Scouts of all ages, ability levels and from a variety of backgrounds.
  1. Adapt activities and methods to individual and group needs and abilities, provide opportunities for participants to experience variety, challenge, and progression.
  1. Use experiential, girl-led methods of instruction, group, and behavior management in accordance with department procedures and the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  1. Collaborate with additional staff or adult volunteers assigned to activities.
  1. Demonstrate a caring attitude and manner with campers. Act as a role model of Girl Scout values for campers and staff.
  1. When applicable, act as the supervising staff person for a group of program participants.
  1. Guide participants in group cohesiveness that includes and appreciates all members and honors individuality.
  1. Assist other Girl Scout program staff or program vendors by organizing the group, implementing positive behavior management, and assisting with instruction in Spanish.
  1. Participate as a professional member of Girl Scouts of Colorado staff, providing effective service to the Council.
  1. Be an active member of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., demonstrating the principles of the Girl Scout Promise and Law in all activities. Membership will be paid for by Girl Scouts of Colorado.
  1. Participate in staff training, attend staff meetings, and contribute to the planning of the work of the staff team.
  1. Embrace diversity and inclusiveness by contributing to positive relationships between diverse racial, ethnic, and social groups in the council as a whole and between employees and volunteers.
  2. Demonstrate a recognition and understanding of good customer service and maintain constructive relationships with co-workers, girl members, parents, volunteers, and the community.

In accordance with the philosophy of Girl Scouts of Colorado, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description.

 

DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Program Skills and Abilities.
  1. Experience working with Spanish Speaking children and families or equivalent culturally responsive programming experience.
  1. Experience working with children and adults in an informal setting.
  1. Ability to be flexible, adaptable, think quickly under pressure and modify programming design in different situations.
  1. Youth Development Knowledge.
  1. Knowledgeable of the development needs of children and appropriate program engagement and behavior management techniques.
  1. Ability to motivate, develop, inspire, engage, and relate to girls elementary to high school aged.

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Language Skills.
  1. Oral Fluency in Spanish and English.
  1. Have current, or willing to obtain CPR/First Aid.
  1. Access to a vehicle, or ability to travel to varied work locations using GSCO Vehicle, predominately in the Front Range, but may include statewide travel.

Non-restricted driver's license is required.

  1. Pass CBI/FBI criminal record check; document legal employment status.

PAY RATE

This position pays at a rate of $17.50 - $20.00 per hour, plus $2.00/hour Bilingual (English/Spanish) Shift Differential.
